This page explains how returns work for chemicals and equipment bought from Gloss and Glide. It does not affect your statutory rights.
Changing your mind: chemicals
If you are a consumer, you can cancel your order for any reason within 14 days of receiving it, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Unopened chemicals in their original, sealed containers can be returned within 14 days of delivery for a refund. Once a container has been opened, the chemical cannot be returned for a change of mind, for safety reasons, because we cannot be certain what has happened to it once it has left our control.
Tell us by email within 14 days of receiving your order, then send unopened items back within a further 14 days. You pay the cost of returning goods when you change your mind, and chemicals must be packaged so they cannot leak or spill in transit.
Changing your mind: machines and equipment
Pressure washers, steam cleaners, carpet extractors, dual action polishers, paint thickness gauges and other machines can be returned within 14 days of delivery if they are unused and in their original packaging, with all accessories and manuals included. Equipment that has been used, even briefly, cannot be returned for a change of mind.
Installed equipment, such as lifts, curing lamps and water systems supplied with an installed and commissioned option, and 1000 litre IBCs, are excluded from change of mind returns once they have been delivered and installed. This is because installation makes the equipment part of your premises and it cannot reasonably be resold as new.
Faulty goods
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, everything we sell must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If an item is faulty you can reject it for a full refund within 30 days of delivery. After that, we will repair or replace it, or refund you if that is not possible.
Faulty machines are also covered by the manufacturer warranty that applies to that product, as well as by your rights under the Consumer Rights Act. To claim, we need your order number, a description of the fault and, where relevant, photographs or a short video. We cover the cost of returning a faulty item.
Business customers
If you buy in the course of a business, you are not a consumer for the purposes of the Consumer Contracts Regulations, and the 14 day change of mind cancellation right described above does not apply to you. Faulty goods bought by a business are covered by the Consumer Rights Act 2015 only where you are a consumer, and otherwise by the Sale of Goods Act 1979 and the manufacturer warranty. Trade account terms for drums, pallets and cases are agreed individually and may include their own return terms.
